Benfica has turned to Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq after selling Darwin Nunez to Liverpool.

Nunez, an Uruguayan striker, joined Liverpool on a €75 million transfer on Tuesday.

The Primera Liga team has picked Sadiq as the right successor for Nunez, according to the Spanish publication La Razon.

Benfica signed Nunez from Almeria two years ago, and the Portuguese club is ready to go after the LaLiga club again for their prized asset.

Sadiq contributed 18 goals and 12 assists to the Rojiblancos’ promotion to LaLiga last season.

Valencia and Sevilla are both interested in signing the striker in LaLiga.

The 25-year-old has recently expressed his desire to play in Spain’s top division, but Almeria is willing to accommodate his wishes.
