Robert Lewandowski has equaled former Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Nazario’s incredible scoring record since joining Barcelona.
Barcelona smiled home with the title yesterday after beating Espanyol 4-2 in the Catalan La Liga derby.
Lewandowski scored twice to help the home team win. According to Naija News, the 34-year-old striker became the first player since Ronaldo Nazario to score 30 or more goals in all competitions in his first season at the Blaugrana.
The Poland international has now scored 31 goals and provided seven assists in 42 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona this season. It can be recalled that Ronaldo, in his prime, joined Barcelona from PSV Eindhoven at the start of the 1996-97 season.
The former Brazilian footballer turned businessman scored 47 goals and 12 assists in 49 games for the club in his first season.
Sunday’s win made Barcelona the 2022/2023 La Liga champions, thanks to a 4-2 win over Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium.
Xavi’s side currently have 85 points from 34 appearances and are 14 points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid with four games remaining, Naija News reports.
