After completing his transfer from Ajax on deadline day, Antony says he can’t wait to help Manchester United achieve success once again.

The 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with the option of an extra year, after United and the player reached and earlier this week agreed on a sum that may reach €100 million (£85.1 million) for his services.

With an additional €5 million expected in add-ons, United has already paid Ajax €95 million. The cost of the ticket includes a donation to Sao Paulo, Antony’s first professional team.

After Erik ten Hag made the Brazilian international his top attacking recruit during the summer transfer window, Antony will be reunited with his former Ajax manager.

Ten Hag needed a left-footed attacker to balance out United’s unbalanced attack, and now Antony is eager to repay the confidence that Ten Hag placed in him by returning him to European play.

“Joining one of the most storied clubs in the world at this point in my career is wonderful, “said he. “I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me, especially my family, my coaches, and my teammates, without whom I would not have succeeded.

“Erik ten Hag’s coaching at Ajax was ideal for me and my development. I play and coach better when he is around, and I am inspired by what he has shared with me about his goals and intentions for Manchester.

“My time at Ajax was amazing, and I will always be grateful for the trust they placed in me. However, now that I am ready for the next challenge, I can’t wait to join my new team and contribute to the success of Manchester United,” he said.
