After a kid went missing, an irate mob stripped a 53-year-old lady naked and stoned her in the Mushin neighborhood of Lagos State on Thursday.

According to reports, a baby vanished when the mom touched him.

Giving an update on the event, Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin said the mob was dispersed with teargas, but that the accusation had not been confirmed because no case of a missing child had been filed at the police station.

He urged Nigerians to put an end to jungle justice, noting that an inquiry into the issue is ongoing.

“We truly need to join hands to end jungle justice,” he stated on Twitter. People stripped a 53-year-old woman (names withheld) naked, began stoning her, and were on the verge of lynching her at 1810 hours today. This occurred in Mushin’s Alasalatu.

“She was accused of touching a baby and the infant vanished.” Police arrived on time to save her. Tear gas was used to disperse the Lynch mob.

“There has been no proof of the allegation. Today, no parent or guardian has come forward to report a missing child in that area. She is currently being held at the station, her husband has been notified, and an investigation is underway. It’s not a good idea to use jungle justice. ‘Jungle justice is a no-no!’
