Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, also known as Amerado (Amerado Burner) ‘The Beast’ on stage, is a Ghanaian hip-hop/hiplife rapper who essentially talks on everything pertaining to man and the cosmos.

This Ghanaian lyrical genius comes from Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region, and is known as the “Twi Machine” for his flow, energy, and proficient usage of the Twi language.

The acronym AMERADO, which stands for “A Master Every Rapper Always Dream Of,” literally translates as “a governor.”

He was discovered by Azee Ntwene in 2015 at the Solid FM Freestyle Saturday, where he finished as the runner-up. He was then housed with Strongman Burner, and once Strongman joined Sarkcess Music, he switched from his previous project, Rap Pagez, to Amerado, becoming the frontline artist of MicBurnerz Music.

Amerado released his first significant song as a micburner in January 2017 following a number of releases and features in 2016. With over 40,000 downloads across all music outlets, the track I AM (Prod by Azee Ntwene) was regarded as one of the top hip-hop/hiplife songs to be published in the first quarter of 2017.

Senior musicians like veteran musician Reggie Rockstone, also known as The Hiplife Grandpapa, Edem, Okyeame Kwame, Stay Jay, and others praised Amerado for the song that extols the genre’s trailblazers on Twitter and Facebook and featured him in songs.

He is well-known for consistently donning a black sweatshirt with a lovely African design. The Beast, The Hoodie Rapper, Twi Machine, Mogya Mono, Lyrical Bawumia, Beat Denkyem, and Younger K.A are just a few of his many monikers.

The labeled “king of puns,” Amerado, is credited with hit songs including Save My Soul, I AM, At My Back, Beast Attitude, Fatality Flow, Inbox, Cellphone, Boys and Girls, Fane 10, etc. This is evident by his dedication, fan base, and team’s excellent work. Possi Gee, Tubhani Muzik, Jo Kole, Lawrence Beat, Mix Master Garzy, Azee Ntwene, SmokeyBeatz, Snowbeatz, iTz CJBeatz, ProducedBy Awaga, and Two Bars are just a few of the producers with whom he has previously collaborated.

Later in 2018, Sarkodie summoned him up to perform on the most well-known hip-hop song, “Biibi Ba.” The song was nominated for two 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards categories: Best Hip-Hop Song and Best Edited Video.

Reggie Rockstone, the pioneer of the popular music genre hiplife, hailed Amerado as one of the greatest rappers to have ever represented Ghana on Twitter on October 1, 2020.

Amerado collaborated with Shatta Wale and other rappers in Kumasi to release Ahodwo Las Vegas as part of the Kumerica agenda; the song has amassed more over 1 million views on YouTube.

The Ghana Cocoa Board’s initiative to promote chocolate made in Ghana is being led by Amerado. In order to forward Ghana’s goals, he wrote the song Ghana Chocolate.

Amerado has performed at many events including Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, The S-Concert, and Rapperholic Show. In October 2019, he also gave a performance at the Ghana Music Awards UK.
