After Christian Eriksen verbally committed to joining Manchester United, a Tottenham supporter posted a video of themself burning an old Christian Eriksen jersey on social media.

After considerable rumor about his next club, Eriksen, who only signed a six-month contract with the Bees, decided to join Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. Eriksen spent the second half of last season at Brentford.

A fan went to the extreme of opting to burn a former uniform with Eriksen’s name on the back in retaliation for the Dane joining Tottenham’s Premier League opponents.

A Tottenham fan has decided to burn their old Christian Eriksen strip after he joined Man Utd

The fan then made an odd claim that they decided to light the team’s uniform on fire because Eriksen promised Tottenham’s CEO Daniel Levy that he would never play for another English team, a vow that was made public by Sportsmail in 2017.

Eriksen will have played for two English Premier League teams after leaving Spurs, with Manchester United being the second.

After being forced to leave Inter Milan due to Serie A regulations barring him from playing in Italy as a result of his cardiac attack while competing for Denmark last summer, the Denmark international joined fellow Dane Thomas Frank at Brentford last season.

The fan’s former Eriksen uniform is shown in the film, which has the slogan “a man of my word,” before they fire the replica jersey with a bit lighter.

A follow-up tweet from the Spurs fan stated that it was probably in retaliation for Eriksen joining another English team.

Why would we establish a rivalry with your dead team when we are so much better, United fans think (as always). Tweeted the fan

On social media, however, some Spurs supporters did not take kindly to the incident, with many criticizing what they perceived as a completely absurd act of hostility towards a former player who they still hold in high respect.
