About 40 students and staff members from the Morehouse College Glee Club in Atlanta, USA, have claimed Igbo ancestry in what was intended to be a cultural exploration tour.

Following the announcement, the pupils of Igboland ancestry have adopted new Igbo names that reflect their elevated position.

The University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), in Enugu State, hosted the name-giving event. The students claimed that DNA tests on them allowed them to identify their ancestors.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Igwe Hyacinth Eze, the traditional leader of the Ibagwa-Aka community in Enugu State’s Igbo-Eze South Local Council, were present for the event.
