Abdulmumin Jibrin, a former member of the House of Representatives, has claimed that the South East will just be squandering their votes in 2023 if they choose to support the Labour Party.
According to Jibrin, supporting Kwankwaso, who will succeed the region as president at the end of his term, is the safest way for the South East to win the presidency.
Jibrin asserted on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm that if the people of the area choose to offer a presidential candidate through the Labour Party, they will be wasting their votes.
“The South East has not sat at the table to debate the presidency in serious terms to take over the Presidency of Nigeria since the Vice President Alex Rkwueme.
They have never been given the chance. For the first time, they will debate and formally agree that the Eastern region of the nation will take the lead after Kwankwaso by sitting down at a table with the NNPP.
“This will be the first time the South East will have the assurance that after this specific number of years it will be our time, since after Alex Ekwueme.
And I think it’s the most secure path. But once more, if they wish to show their power, they can choose to keep their ballots or cast them in vain.
The Yorubas have been doing that for a long time. I think one of their safest options is to join forces with the NNPP so that Peter Obi may serve as his running partner, at which point control can return to the South-East. The Labour Party cannot win the presidency by receiving votes for them. So they might opt to waste their ballots if it’s for the presidency.
