According to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), around one hundred million Nigerians live in abject poverty as a result of the ruling All Progressives Congress’ misrule and mishandling of the nation’s economy.

Obi told a large gathering of supporters at the famed Nkwo Nnewi market in Anambra State that approximately 65 million persons were poor in 2012, but that nowadays, over 100 million are poor.

Obi, on the other hand, informed the cheering throng that he and his running companion, Senator Yusuf Datti-Ahmed, are ready to change the narrative.

He stated that they would alter Nigeria’s economy and living conditions for all Nigerians, regardless of tribe, religion, gender, social status, or political allegiance.

“We have opted to construct a new Nigeria where life and property are secure,” he stated. Bank robbery and criminality were nearly unthinkable when I was governor. All of the prominent bandits were dispatched. We intend to do the same across the country.

“The way to do it is for Nigeria to shift from consumption to production. I can tell you that all industries in Nnewi will reopen. Our governments have consistently promised to resurrect and restart the industry. But how many of you have received such federal government assistance?”

“None!” exclaimed the audience.

Obi said that as governor, he transformed schools, hospitals, roads, and other facilities without any difficulty.

“It is the role of government to make life easier for residents, not to overwhelm them with taxation,” he says. I am a Nigerian who is uniquely suited and prepared to lead this country out of its current troubles and poverty.”

In her words, prominent human rights activist Aisha Yusuf urged Nigerians to vote Obi and Yusuf Datti-Ahmed on February 25, 2023, to preserve the country.

Valentine Ozigbo, the previous governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra, stated that Nigerians are tired and demand change.
